Oooooh the excitement of a new Gene! Especially one costumed by my talented friend Wayne, creator of Weekend in Monterey.

Hello hello!!

Two things happening in this neck of the woods. :o)

First, I have created a WebRing for Bleuette. So if you are a fan of Bleuette, sew for her, have a doll shop, basically, anything pertaining to Bleuette in webpage form, are invited to join the For the Love of Bleuette webring. The link can be found on the Le Salon de Bleuette homepage.

Also, Barbara Jennings posted this to the Salon e-mail list.

Subject: Ebay Doll Clothing Category Changes

To all interested in helping Ebay change their Doll Clothing Categories:
There is a new thread on the Ebay Doll Discussion Board entitled:

Improvements to Clothes, Accessories categories and Custom/Handmade

Please give your input. This is your chance to be heard.

More soon! In the meantime, talk amongst yourselves about the Tonner mid-year releases!

In case anyone forgot, 2005 marks the 10-year Anniversary of our dear Miss Marshall! Where were you in 1995?

Me, I was sitting on the floor of my living room, flipping through Doll Reader magazine when I saw her. She came as a blonde, a redhead, a brunette. I was hooked. I wanted that Red Venus...

I waited, and my first doll ordered directly from AD was Pin-Up she came with a trunk and two outfits...how could I resist.

While I waited, and waited and waited...and waited ;o) ...I started hunting the local shows for our girl, and Premire came home on one trip, Red Venus followed and of course several outfits...

That was back in the day when "one of each haircolor" was enough to satisfy me. LOL.

Fast forward to 2004, AD is introducing a new website: www.genecollection.com and a "2005 Preview Doll," Film Fatale.

Thanks to my friend Vera for the link, two important auctions of Mid-Century dolls, from the collections of Mel Odom and the late Laura Meisner:

New Look! New Look! New Look! (And not by Dior! ;o)

So what do you think?

Wednesday, July 21, 2004

Wow! Hello! It's been a loooooong while! I am planning to update a bit more often. I know I said that before, but well, this time I honestly plan to do it. I sure was suprised when I logged on here to Blogger to see things have sure changed! I am liking the new format though! :o)

There are going to be some changes however. With the passage of time, my hobbies and interests have evolved. I still collect dolls, but I am not as active as I had been in the past.

Right now, I am obsessed with scrapbooking! LOL. Seriously, with the amount of supplies here that I have hoarded over the months, I could open up my own shop! So watch for that in the meantime...I will still have some doll commentary, but look for it to be peppered with scrapbooking commentary.

I will be posting my favorite links, as well as describing some of the projects I have done. As well as all sorts of other goodies.

And, I need to shout to the rafters, I was able to get into Creating Keepsakes' University, which is coming to San Jose in October. Registration began yesterday, and sold out by the next day! I am sooooo excited....

So watch this space...until next time...Kristan

It's been awhile...Happy New Year! I am slowly getting back into the swing of things, doll-wise. I am deciding to really focus my own collection, and and really go with things I love. Right now, that is Bleuette. Other things are also consuming my time, which is a good thing...

And right now, I am loving the latest link from Marcia. I don't know how she does it, but she has pics of the new Gene 2004 line! And I must say, I am smitten all over again!

And remember, in my last post, I was drooling over miss Tiny Kitty? Well soon she'll be home! Merry Christmas to me! Thanks Mom!

Yes, it's been awhile. Life gets in the way, I went back to school, other interests take my time.

But I do have news...Dollmasters has an exclusive Tiny Kitty which can be seen here. She's got big hair. LOL. I am still trying to resist.

And the new Tonner character is Angelina! Here's a link to one already on eBay.

And if that weren't enough, Matt, Tyler's boyfriend (Showing up at the Ball with another date! The gossip mogers will be swarming! ;o) also made his debut! Here's a link to see him. (Also another eBay auction.)

The jury is still out for me on Angelina. I would have to see a clearer picture of her. She reminds me of someone, I just can't place a finger on it. As for Matt? I won't be buying him, and that's all I will say on the subject, or else, I will start to sound very rude.

The UFDC National Convention is underway as we speak! And tonight is the Robert Tonner dinner. Will we see the unveiling of the rumored new Hispanic character? Only time will tell...

This morning, also saw a breakfast organized by Janice Naibert, for the members of Le Salon de Bleuette. It was a HUGE sucess with 56 eager Salon members attending and more dropping by later. I wish I could have been there, but alas, I was here in California.

I was there in spirit, I created a pin to hand out to all those attending:

And don't forget the new Brenda Starr Mid-Year Releases!

Wow. I have been out of it. Lots of things spinning around in the Doll World though. Thanks to my friend Vera for sending me the link to Tonner's 2003 Mid-Year Releases. The mix and match separates are a FABULOUS idea, reminiscent of the the Pak's from the Golden Age of Barbie. And then, I just had to look at the "Tiny Dolls" link. Two new trunk sets for Tiny Betsy (Halloween and Christmas) as well as a new Mary Engelbreit doll the same size as Tiny Betsy! Guess who is going to share outfits? *wink*

The UFDC National Convention is just about upon us. Although I won't be attending this year, it looks like there is going to be alot of fun going on! Bleuette will be making MANY appearances!

By the way, due to the abuse of spammers, I have removed the guestbook until further notice.

I just returned back from a wonderful trip to Florida. While I was there, I picked up the gorgeous new Brenda Starr from Robert Tonner. She is gorgeous! Oh wait I just said that! ;o)

Brenda arrives at The Kristana Spa!

The current issue of Doll Reader magazine (with a Barbie on the cover) has a lovely tribute to Laura Meisner.

Happy Birthday Gene!

Regarding Laura Meisner, Cheryl in LA posted this today on Vicky's Board:

Hi All,

I just spoke with one of Laura Meisner’s best friends. I was asked to relay this information to all of Laura’s friends. If you would like to send a card to the family, please email me privately, and I will supply you with a name and address. Laura’s service will be kept to just immediate family. The family is asking that each one of you “perform an act of kindness in Laura’s memory this week”. Additionally, in lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in Laura’s name to your local Suicide Prevention Hotline.
