And someone reported on Vicky's that they received their Violet in Swingtime Serenade.

It seems Franklin Mint has some new dolls up their sleeves. Check out The Franklin Mint Doll Club on Yahoo! for more information

First up is "Dakota" with a whole wardrobe of Harley Davidson clothes, and another collector got the brochure for a Jennifer (Flavin) Stallone doll. Interesting!

Just a quick note, I am trying to fix the mistakes in the code so that this page is viewable in Netscape once again. It should look like its old self in a few days. Thanks for your patience. :o)

It never fails, the fourth quarter rolls around and all of a sudden I am bombarded by loot. Not that this is a particularly bad thing, just that one can get quite overwhelmed. It really starts with convention. I save all year and come home with alot of stuff. Then right on the heels of convention is Gene Fan Appreciation weekend. This year, that meant the debut of Violet Waters. Then dolls I had preordered months ago arrive in the shop, and then on my doorstep. After a drought of dolls, I sit here and count five boxes!! LOL.

Yes, LOOT, and lots of it. Saturday was the last doll show of the year. Mom and I went and we both came home loaded with stuff. If you wait long enough you can find deals. I managed to pick up two Madras, a black/red eyebrow Scarlett Temptress and Stolen Moments. SM was a planned purchase all along, but ST was quite the impulse. LOL. I was kinda iffy on her from the pics, but in person, this doll is HOT. I love the red/black eyebrows. It really works for Madra. The dress is classic Dior. Her hair is very elegant. Its simply pulled back and then into a wrapped ponytail that is turned under into a bun, similiar to the hair on SM, and a few of the other dolls in this year's line. She has quite the attitude. SM is elegant. Madra is stunning as a blonde.

This has been a Madra year for me. With the exception of Pierette and Garden Party all of my dolls this year have been Madra. I love her. She has that attitude that the early Genes had. I hate to say it, but in some ways, Gene is a bit too sweet for me in her latest incarnations.

The doll show was alot smaller than shows of the past, infact, it seems to have shrunk each time. With the advent of eBay, I see this as a continuing occurance. But there is something to be said for that tactile experience of shopping in person rather than online. Oh don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of eBay...its just not the same, but it is the wave of the future. Mom did find the new Gone Gold Paris that would be Alex's new African-American friend. She was promptly redressed in Madra's "Cat Walk" fashion, and got a new hairstyle. She is wigged, and let me tell you, her hairstyle while it looks like a simply upswept pony-tail, attatched to the top of her head, was not...it was tacked in several places., and required several minutes of snipping and pulling.

I had a chance to do some playing today. For weeks I had two of the latest Scarlett outfits from the Franklin Mint just sitting in the box. Today they got deboxed. The first was the "Peach Tree Promenade" ensemble. (Not to be confused with the equally gorgeous, Peach Tree Promenade Cissy.) It's alovely peach and black strolling dress, with a black straw hat. The second, and my favorite of the two, was Scarlett's Portrait ensemble. A lovely shade of royal blue, in soft, drapy velvet. As usual, FM outdid themselves with the jewelry. I think of the FM dolls, Scarlett is perhaps my favorite. However, Mom has Lucy, and she is just as wonderful, not to mention she has the new poseable body. Wouldn't Lucy be great in some of her ensembles from Auntie Mame?
